The Descendants of Aaron Wertheim and Bertha (Beile) Kanther
The grandparents of Aaron Wertheim were Meier Aron / Aron Wertheim, born 175/76, died 17.02.1864 and Fradchen Katz, born 1780/81, died 16.03.1860. They had nine children, Isaak Wertheim, the eldest son of Aron and Fradchen Wertheim, born 22.10.1801, died 07.01.1881, married on 14.08.1830 Breinchen Loewenberg from Neumorschen, daughter of Jakob Loewenberg and his wife Karolione Eichenberg, born 1801/02, died 13.10.1892. Isaak and Breinchen Wertheim had eight children, Aaron Wertheim was the oldest one.

FIRST GENERATION :
1. Aaron Wertheim, born 15.08.1827 (according to the death-list), in 1828 (according to the
marriage-list) in Hatzbach. He was a horse-merchant and lived in
Hatzbach, No.38. He married 26.12.1856 Bertha / Beile Kanther from
Neustadt, daughter of Moses Kanther and his wife Zwie Lilienfeld,
born 19.08.1833. Aaron and Bertha Wertheim had nine children:

+ 3. Heli / Hele Wertheim, born 19.02.1859 in Hatzbach
+ 4. Subi (?) / Sophie Wertheim, born 01.10.1861 in Hatzbach

in Hatzbach
+ 6. Moses Wertheim, born 28.11.1865 in Hatzbach
+ 7. Meier Wertheim, born 26.09.1868 in Hatzbach

10. Hirsch Wertheim, born 10.05.1878 in Hatzbach,
he died 15.08.1912, he was a single.
Aaron Wertheim died 15.01.1883 in Hatzbach.
SECOND GENERATION :
2. Jakob Wertheim, born 31.07.1857 in Hatzbach. He married first 14.11.1883
Lea Wertheim, born 21.02.1856, she died 02.12.1889. She was a
illegitimate daughter of Giedel Blumenfeld from Leidenhofen, who
married later Aaron Wertheim from Hatzbach, the youngest son of Meier
and Fradchen Wertheim and a brother of Isaak Wertheim. Jakob and Lea
Wertheim had a son :
+ 11. Aaron Wertheim, born 19.09.1884 in Hatzbach.
Jakob Wertheim married a second time Hannchen Bachrach. Jakob
and Hannchen Wertheim had two sons :
+ 12 Isaak Wertheim, born 21.08.1894 in Hatzbach
13. Leopold Wertheim, born 04.08.1896,
he died 22.08.1896 in Hatzbach.
3. Heli Wertheim, born 19.02.1859, he married Sophie Rose / Levi. They lived in Hatzbach,
later in Kirchhain. Heli and Sophie Wertheim had four children :
14. Aaron Wertheim, born 14.04.1890 in Hatzbach
+ 15. Isaak Wertheim, born 20.06.1892 in Hatzbach
+ 16. Bettchen / Ida Wertheim, born 06.04.1895 in Kirchhain
17. Moritz Wertheim, born 26.10.1906, he married 1936 in Kassel N.N.
They lived in Kassel Magazinstrasse 15, from 18.12.1914 in
Moritzstrasse 3, from 28.05.1941 in Moltkestrasse 8 and from 23.01.1942
in Oberste Gasse 35. On 07.09.1942 Heli Wertheim, his wife Sophie and
their son Meier Wertheim were deported to Terezin (Theresienstadt). Heli
Wertheim perished on 26.09.1942, Sophie Wertheim perished on
06.07.1943 in Terezin.
4. Sophie Wertheim, born 01.10.1861 in Hatzbach. She was married to Moses Adler, born
10.12.1852.
6. Moses Wertheim, born 28.11.1865 in Hatzbach. He married Bertha Katzenstein.
7. Meyer Wertheim, born 28.11.1868 in Hatzbach. He died 29.02.1912 in Kassel.
He married first Yetta Nusbaum, she died in July 1891.
He married a second time Betty Linz, born 23.10.1861 in
Rotenburg/Fulda.
8. Levi Wertheim, born 18.06.1871 in Hatzbach, he was a businessman in Kassel (1902),
he married 15.06.1898 Betty Fürst, born 31.03.1870 in Rotenkirchen.
Levi and Betty Wertheim had a son :
+ 18. Gustav Wertheim, born 29.11.1904
Levi Wertheim died in New York in May 1948.
9. Malchen / Amelie Wertheim, born 18.12.1875 in Hatzbach, she was married to
Gustav Goldschmidt (1873 – 1949). She died
12.04.1920 in Kassel.
THIRD GENERATION :
11. Aaron Wertheim, born 19.09.1884 in Hatzbach, he married Selma Stiefel, born
24.08.1883 in Kassel. They lived in Kassel from 09.05.1912 in
Moritzstrasse 8, from 04.04.1913 in Weserstrasse 11, from 01.06.1933
in Mittelgasse 19 and from 02.12.1939 in Schaefergasse 30.
Aaron Wertheim took part on WW I. On 09.12.1941 Aaron and Selma
Wertheim were deported from Kassel to Riga, Aaron Wertheim
perished in July 1944, Selma Wertheim was declared dead.
12. Isaak Wertheim, born 21.08.1894 in Hatzbach. He lived in Hannover. In 1942 he was
deported to Majdanek, where he perished on 17.09.1942.
15. Isaak Wertheim, born 20.06.1892 in Hatzbach, he lived in Kassel in Magazinstrasse 15,
from 18.12.1914 in Moritzstrasse 3, from 28.05.1941 in Moltkestrasse8
and from 23.01.1942 in Oberste Gasse 35. He married Minna Strauss
from Ruedesheim, born 31.03.1897. She came to Kassel 28.12.1922.
Isaak and Minna Wertheim had a son :
+ 19 Alfred Wertheim, born 17.09.1923 in Kassel.
Isaak, Minna and Alfred Wertheim were deported together with Isaak
Wertheims’ parents Heli and Sophie Wertheim on 07.09.1942 from
Kassel to Terezin (Theresienstadt). Isaak Wertheim perished there on
07.05.1944. Minna Wertheim and her son Alfred Wertheim were
deported from Terezin to Auschwitz on 18.05.1944. They are missed.
17. Bettchen / Ida Wertheim, born 06.04.1895 in Kirchhain, she was married on 27.10.1924
to Berthold Seligmann from Nauborn, near Wetzlar, born
24.05.1890.
18. Gustav Wertheim, born 29.11.1904, he married Gerta Johanna Neumann, born
22.10.1910 . Gustav and Gerta Johanns Wertheim had a son :
+ 20. Albert Wertheim, born 03.07.1940 in New York.
Gustav Wertheim died on 08.07.1971 in New York.
FOURTH GENERATION :
19. Alfred Wertheim, born 17.09.1923 in Kassel. He lived in Kassel in Moritzstrasse 3,
moved to Frankfurt /Main on 23.05.1938, came back to Kassel
Moritzstrasse 3 on 19.12.1938, moved again to Frankfurt/Main on
17.02.1939, came back to Kassel Moritzstrasse 3 on 14.05.1940, lived
from 28.05.1941 in Moltkestrasse 8 and from 23.01.1942 in Oberste
Gasse 35. He was deported with his parents Isaak and Minna
Wertheim on 07.09.1942 to Terezin (Theresienstadt) and from there
together with his mother on 18.05.1944 to Auschwitz. He is missed.
20. Albert Wertheim, born 03.07.1940 in New York. He married Judith Ann Barr. He died
16.04.2003.
