1. Samuel Heymann, born about 1764, he married Engel Coen born about1759. Samuel and Engel Heymann had two sons:

In 1846/47 the famliy got the surname Steinmann. Engel Heymann died on 10.12.1832 at the age of 73 years in Schoeppingen, announced by Ernst Moses. Samuel Heymann died 17.12.1846 at the age of 82 years by pneumonia in Schoeppingen.


2. Salomon Heymann, born about 1779, butcher, he married first Rose N.N. Salomon and Rose Heymann had a son:

Salomon Heymann married a second time Jette Isaak, born about 1770. Salomon Heymann died on 23.10.1827 at the age of 48 years by emaciation in Schoeppingen. Jette Heymann died on 07.03.1842 at the age of 72 years by consumption in Schoeppingen.

Hannchen Steinmann died on 23.05.1866 by a hard puerperium / childbed. (death list no. 25) Levi Moises Steinmann married a second time on 14.11.1870 in Schioeppingen at the age of 38 years Dina Kleffmann, 28 years old from Legden (wedding list no. 29).


8. Julchen Moises Steinmann, born 10.09.1834 in Schoeppingen. She was married at the age of 40 years on 28.09.1874 in Schoeppingen to Herz Eichenwald, 39 years old, son of Jacob Eichenwald and his wife Johanna, née Meyer (wedding list fol. 7).


9. Isaak Moises Steinmann, born 19.11.1836 in Schoeppingen, he married on11.01.1865 at the age of 28 years in Schoeppingen Taeubchen Eichengruen, 28 years old from Madfeld (wedding list no. 19). Isaak and Taeubchen Steinmann had seven children:

Untergasse 1, Levi Steinmann married a secon time on 16.08.1920 in Nordheim/Rhoen Rosalie Schoen, born 21.02.1891 in Nordheim/Rhoen, daughter of Azor / Ozer Schoen and his wife Marianne (registry office Nordheim/Rhoen no. 13/1920). Levi and Rosalie Steinmann lived in Gemuenden/Wohra. They had a son:

Levi Steinmann died on 04.12.1938 in Gemuenden/Wohra by pneumonia and hardt attic, indicated by his daughter Hella Levi, née Steinmann, housekeeper in Kirchhain. Rosalie Steinmann lived in Amoeneburg with her daughter Hildegard and her family. She was deported on 09.12.1941 from Kassel to Riga.


29. Siegfried Steinmann, born 16.02.1873 in Schoeppingen. He lived in Wuppertal. He was deported on 21.07.1942 from Duesseldorf to Theresienstadt and from there on 26.09.1942 to Treblinka.


33. Mathilde Steinmann, born 10.08.1871 in Schoeppingen. She was married about 1903 to Heinemann Heimberg, born 05.08.1857 in Madfeld, son of Wolf Heimberg and his wife Goldine, née Lobenberg. Mathide Steinmann was Heinemann Heimberg‘s third wife. He married first Thelina Frankenberg (20.10.1862 – 26.03.1901), a second time Rebecca Frankenberg (12.02.1869 – 26.04.1902). Mathilde and Heinemann Heimberg had five children:


42. Gerda Heimberg, born 02.10.1903 in Madfeld. She emigrated to London.

+ 44. Julius Heimberg, born 29.05.1906 in Madfeld

Heinemann Heimberg died on 05.03.1931 in Hamborn. Mathilde Heimberg lived in Duisburg, she was deported on 25.07.1942 from Duesseldorf to Theresienstadt and from there on 15.04.1944 to Auschwitz. (Ursula Hesse: Juedishes Leben in Alme, Altenbueren, Brilon, Madfeld, Messinghausen, Roesenbeck, Thuelen. Brilon 1991. p. 186 – 193)


34. Julchen Steinmann, born 01.08.1873 in Schoeppingen. She was married to N.N. Schwarz. They lived in Dortmund. Julchen Schwarz was deported on 29.07.1942 from Dortmund to Theresienstadt and from there to Izbica.


35. Rosalie / Rachel Steinmann, born 12.10.1881 in Schoeppingen. She was married to Max / Mordechai Wendriner, born 06.02.1879 in Linden / Brieg / Silesia, son of Friederika Wendriner, née Lipschuetz. Rosalie and Max Wendriner lived in Dortmund, they had two children :

+ 48. Ruth Wendriner.


Max and Rosalie were deorted on 27.01.1942 from Dortmund to Riga. Their daughter wrote testimonies for them on 18.01.1969 from Sidney/Australia.

36. Walter Steinmann, he emigrated in the early 30th with his brother Erich Steinmann to Palestine. He lived in a kibbutz. He has a child and grandchildren.


37. Erich Steinmann, he emitgrated inthe early 30th with his brother Walter Steinmann to Palestine, He lived in a kibbutz. He has a child and grandchildren.


38. Hella / Ella Steinmann, born 01.04.1902 in Gemuenden/Wohra. She was married to Samuel Levi, born 10.09.1892 in Niederaula. Hella and Samuel Levi had three daughters:


49. Hannelore Levi, born 02.10.1924 in Gemuenden/Wohra

50. Marga Levi, born 10.07.1927 in Gemuenden/Wohra

51. Gisela Levi, born 07.01.1930 in Gemuenden/Wohra.


Hella and Samuel Levi lived in Niederaula and Frankfurt/Main. Thjey were deported with their daughters Hannelore, Marga and Gisela Steinmann on 11./12.11.1942 from Frankfurt/Main to Minsk.


40. Hildegard / Hilde Steinmann, born 04.03.1917 in Gemuenden/Wohra. She was married in 1939 to Siegfried Stern, born 24.11.1905 in Amoeneburg, son of Selig Stern and his wife Ernestine, née Spier. Hildegard and Siegfried Stern lived in Amoeneburg, house no. 142. They had a son:


52. Pinchas Uri Stern, born 17.04.1940 in Amoeneburg.


The family was deported on 09.12.1941 from Kassel to Riga. Hildegard Stern and her son Pinchas Uri were murdered there on 02.11.1943. Siegfried Stern escaped and came back to Amoeneburg on 23.05.1945. On 25.05.1945 Minna Buxbaum, born 09.02.1923 in neuhof-Opperz, daughter of Benjamin Buxbaum and his wife Ida, née Adler, followed him to Amoeneburg. They got married on 05.03.1949 in Amoeneburg. They had two children:


53. Uri Stern, born 08.02.1948 in Amoeneburg

54. Ruth Stern, born 13.04.1949 in Amoeneburg.


The family emigrated in December 1951 into the USA and lived in New York 10040, 671 W 193th Street. (Alfred Schneider,a.a.O., p.44)


41. Arthur Steinmann, born after 1920 in Gemuenden/Wohra, he emigrated in 1939 with the

Young Aliya and with the help of Henrietta Szold to Palestine. He lived in

Naharriya. He had a daughter, Ronit Steinmann, wohn lives in Naharriya.

He wrote testimonies for members of his family. He deceased.


43. Thekla Heimberg, born 26.12.1903 in Madfeld. She was married to Alfred Jagusch, born1890 in Nibork/Nidzica, Masuria, Poland, son of Adolf Jagusch and his wife Johanna, née Katzki. Alfred Jagusch was a half Jew. He served in the German Wehrmach (army).Thekla and Alfred Jagusch lived in Dortmund, Holzhofstrasse 8. They had a son:


49. Dieter David Jagusch, born 05.09.1937 in Dortmund.


Thekla Jagusch and her son David Jagusch were deported on 30.04.1942 from Dortmund to Zamosc. Alfred Jagusch survived and lived after war in Bad Mergentheim. He demanded compansation for his wife and his son.


44. Julius Heimberg, born 29.05.1906 in Madfeld. He married 1938 in Krefeld Else Rothschild, born 1916 in Geldern. Juius and Else Heimberg emigated to Argentina. Julius Heimberg died in the 50th in Buenos Aires by an accident in the habour (drowned).


45. Max Heimberg, born 27.03.1908 in Madfeld. He was disabled. He was arrested in the mental hospital in Bendorf-Sayn and deported from Koblenz to Sobibor on 15,06,1942 (euthanasia). He was murdered on 31.12.1942 in Izbica.


46. Irma Heimberg, born 12.06.1910 in Madfeld. Irma Heimberg had an illegitimated child. She flet in 1934 to the Netherlands, was arrested in 1940 and deported in 1942 to Auschwitz, where she was murdered on 17.07.1942.

47. Kurt Wendriner, now Kurt Ryner, he lives in Sydney, Australia, 37, Karrela Rd., Cremorne.


48. Ruth Wendriner, she was married to N.N. Cranston, they live in Sydney, Australia, 765, Warringsh Rd. Forestville.

Helene Steinmann, born 24.12.1880 in Schoeppingen, she lived in Muehlheim, she was deported on 22.04.1942 from Duesseldorf to Izbica.


Dina Steinmann, born 24.12.1880 in Schoeppingen, she lived in Raesfeld, she was married to N.N. Rosenbaum. She was deported to Riga in 1942.
