Genealogy of the Meyerhof Family from Volkmarsen
The origin of the Meyerhof Family lies in Volkmarsen, a town in the north-west of Kassel.The first one I could find is Meyer Moises. In a record from 22.06.1808 in a Volkmarsen chronicle, I'v e got in an e-mail from Ernst Klein from Volkmarsen, you can read:
„Meyer Moises erschien und erklaerte, dass er sich den Zunamen Meyrhof beilegen wollte. Er waere 78 Jahr, sein Sohn David 31 Jahr, sein Sohn Smul 29 Jahr, beide ohnverheiratet,“ …
„Selig Meyrhof erschien und erklaert, dass weil sein Vater Meyrmoses den Zunamen angenommen, er keinen anderen mehr annehmen wollte. Er waer 34 Jahr, seine Frau 31, sein aeltester Sohn 12 Jahr, seine Tochter 10 Jahr, sein zweiter 7 Jahr, seine dritte 4 Jahre, seine 4. 2 Jahr.“
FIRST GENERATION :
1. Meyer Moises, born in 1725. He took the surname Meirhof in 1808. He married Rosina Meyer.
Meyer Moises and Rosina Meirhof had three sons and a daughter::
+ 2. Reichel Meierhof, born about 1771 in Volkmarsen.
+ 3. Selig Moises / Meirhof, born about 1772 or1774 or on 14.11.1775 in Volkmarsen
4. David Moises / Meirhof. born on 23.01.1778 in Volkmarsen, he died on 28.02.1823 in
Wolfhagen (Helmut Thiele, a.a.O., p. 203)
5. Smul Moises / Meirhof, born about 1776 or 1779 in Volkmarsen, he died on 11.05.1852 at
the age of 76 in Volkmarsen.

2. Reichel Meierhof, born about 1771 in Volkmarsen, she was married to Sander Speyer
Weissenbach, born in 1768, son of Abraham and Saara Speyer. Reichel and Sander
Weissenbach had two sons:
6. Abraham Weisenbach, born 10.08.1809 in Wolfhagen.

7. David Weisenbach, born about 1814 in Wolfhagen, he died
11.04.1834 in Wolfhagen at the age of 20 years. (HHStAWI, 365., no. 862)
Reichel Weisenbach died on 22.06.1847 at the age of 76 years in Wolfhagen.

3. Selig Meirhof, born about 1772 or 1774 or on 14.11.1776 in Volkmarsen. He was a butcher. He
married Friederike / Fradchen Samuel Alsberg, born about 1777/1778. In 1808
Selig and Friederike Meirhof had five children, after 1808 they had four further
children:

01.04.1858 at the age of 50 in Volkmarsen.

14. Samuel Meyerhoff, born 23.01. or 07.06.1810 in Volkmarsen, he died on
15.03.1838 in Haag.
+ 15. Levi Meyerhoff, born 07.03.1815 in Volkmarsen
+ 16. Moses Meyerhoff, born 03.08.1817 in Volkmarsen.

Fradchen Meyerhof died on 07.04.1829 in Volkmarsen at the age of 51, Selig Meyerhoff died on
18.05.1852 in Volkmarsen at the age of 80.

THIRD GENERATION :
8. Abraham Meyerhoff, born 12.02.1798. He was butcher and merchant. He married first on
16.12.1834 at the age of 37 Reichel Meyer Mildenberg, 29 years old,
born about 1805, daughter of Meier Michael Mildenberg and his wife
Merla, nee Michel. Reichel Meyerhof died on 11.12.1835. Abraham
Meyerhof married a second time at the age of 39 years 10 months and 12
days on 24.11.1836 Roeschen Mildenberg, old 29 years, 10 months and
20 days, born 04.01.1807, daughter of Meier Michael Mildenberg and his
wife Merle, nee Michel. Abraham and Roeshen Meyerhoff had five
children:
+ 17. Meyer Meyerhoff, born 18.09.1837 in Volkmarsen, he moved to
Reichensachsen.
18. Friederike Meyerhoff, born 05.05.1839 in Volkmarsen
19. Reichel Meyerhoff, born 21.08.1841 in Volkmarsen
20. Michelis Meyerhoff, born 01.10.1843 in Volkmarsen
21. Samuel Meyerhoff, born 08.02.1846 in Volkmarsen.
Abraham Meyerhoff died on 10.12.1849 at the age of 52 years, 10 months and 20 days in
Volkmarsen, Roeschen Meyerhoff died on 15.01.1851 in Volkmarsen.

13. Hanchen Meyerhoff, born in September 1809. She was a maid, she has four illegitimate
children:
22. Louise Meyerhoff, born 22.03.1829 in Volkmarsen, she died on
31.10.1843 at the age of 14 years,and 7
months as Louise Nassauer.
23. Ephraim Meyerhoff, born 24.11.1830 in Volkmarsen, he died
04.12.1830 in Volkmarsen.
24. Friederike Meyerhoff, born 27.12.1831 in Volkmarsen, she died
17.05.1833 in Volkmarsen.
+ 25. Salomon Meyerhoff, born 15.04.1834 in Volkmarsen.
Hanchen Meyerhoff was married at the age of 27 on 16.09.1835 to Josua Nassauer, farmer and
trucker, 40 years old, born about 1795, son of Ephraim Nassauer and his wife Golde nee Josua.
Before Josua Nassauer had two stepsons:

Hanchen and Josua Nassauer had two children:

Hanchen Nassauer died on 12.05.1841 at the age of 31 years, 8 months. Josua Nassauer married
a second time on 11.05.1842 Guetel Mueller from Zierenberg, daughter of Itzig Mueller and
his wife Lea nee Bloch. Josua and Guetel Nassauer had three children:

15. Levi Meyerhoff, born 07.03.1815, he was a dyer. He married on 30.05.1843 at the age of 28
years and 1 month Hannchen Pappenheim, 21 years and 2 months old, born
in March 1822, from Eschwege, daughter of Levi Pappenheim and his wife
Fradchen, nee Wertheim. Levi and Hannchen Meyerhoff had seven children:
33. Meinhard Meyerhoff, born 13.11.1844 in Volkmarsen, he died on
26.07.1847 in Volkmarsen.

years and 9 months on 22.05.1850 Amalie / Malchen Kahn, 27 years and 5 months old, born in
January 1823, from Eschwege, daughter of Levi Kahn and his wife Beilchen, nee Kahn. Moses
and Amalie Meyerhoff had four daughters:

17. Meyer Meyerhof, born 18.09.1837 in Volkmarsen, he was a cablemaker. He married at the age
of 27 yeras and 2 months on 16.11.1864 Frommet Gutkind from Zierenberg, 28 years and 1 ½
months old, born about October 1836, daughter of Jacob Gutkind and his wife Jette nee Eliel.
Meyer and Fromet Meyerhof moved to Reichensachsen.
25. Salomon Meyerhoff, born 15.04.1834 in Volkmarsen. He married at the age of 28 years, 9
months and 6 days as Salomon Naussauer on 21.01.1863 Taeubchen
Mueller from Zierenberg 25 years, 9 months and 11 day old, born in
April 1838, daughter of Jacob Mueller and his wife Roeschen nee Katz.
Salomon and Taeubchen Naussauer had three children:
44. Hannchen Nassauer, born 05.08.1863 in Volkmarsen, he died on
16.09.1863 in Volkmarsen.
45. Josuel Nassauer, born 22.08.1864 in Volkmarsen, he died on
30.08.1864 in Volkmarsen.

42. Rosa / Roeschen Meyerhoff, born 07.02.1861 in Volkmarsen, she was married on 26.05.1880
to Haune Hermann Katzenberg, he dealed with iron / steel in Wolfhagen, 29 years and 17
days old, born in May 1851, son of Itzig Katzenberg and his wife Friederike, nee Goldschmidt.
Rosa and Hermann Katzenberg had five children:
